when i heard about the jupiter, venus and the crescent moon in san ramon, i had a small desire to see that. and lo! today it was seen above the amritapuri ashram buildings. the venus on the left the jupiter on the right and the crescent moon below. it was like a smily face in the messenger! it was soooo beautiful. the sky was cloudy, the light was too low, i could not watch too long, could not get a good pic, still sharing what i got. enjoy.

wait .. where is amma? she was there in san ramon.

look she was also here.

“yadaditya gatam tejo jagat bhasayatekhilam
yaschandramsi yaschagnow tat tejo viddhi mamakam”
says krishna in bhagavd gita ch 15-12.
the splendor that is there in the sun, moon, fire and all that objects illuminating the whole world know that it is mine.

[science: the moon is the brightest, closest and smallest of the three and is 252,000 miles away from the earth. venus, the second brightest, closest and smallest, is 94 million miles away. and big jupiter is 540 million miles away.]

  1. Wow.Truly a beautiful sight. Thank you for sharing the picture. Didn’t know they were two planets though. i thought they were just two stars striking a pose with the crescent moon !!

  2. Thank you so much, swamiji for sharing the beautiful picture. The two stars look like amma’s eyes smiling. In fact the picture tells me that “one day i will come to your place (Auckland) and bless you children. I am waiting for this day to come soon. I can remember an english song “Everywhere i look” The first line is “Everywhere I look I find you,…”
One day i will write: Amma is in new zealand

  3. Thank you Swamiji! 🙂 🙂 I saw it…..!!!! It was awesome! i wanted to share it with others as well but could not as i was the only one travelling in my office cab today…Like Jayasree iyer said, i also felt it like a smiley face….That moment i wished i could see someone i know on the way to share it, but…. It’s really amazing to know that AMMA’s kids have’nt missed it for sure!!!

  4. Beautiful photo! For the science oriented: this is the view from near the equator where the horizon is directly below the moon. Those of us in the Northern hemisphere on Sunday night would have seen the configuration tilted to the right – with the moon to the right of the planets and the ‘smile’ on the side of the moon’s face. Tonight (Monday), the moon is to the left.

  5. Kali is smiling…..

  6. it’s too beautiful, i am not able to take my eyes away from it.

  7. yaaaa….. yesterday evening i saw it…it was sooo beautiful…didn’t know that this was the scene referred here in that beautiful post…

  8. THANK U SWAMIJI FOR SHARING SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE…
i saw this from my office building yesterday and my mind first thought was about amma, whether she also saw this sight!!???
then i remembered that all is her creation… she puts up these shows up in the sky, and here on earth too… we can only look up and say “wow, that’s great ” but let’s not forget the creator even when we are included in that list !!! 🙂

  9. Thank you so much for sharing … its really feels good to read about these experiences ..

  10. What a rare picture. It gives happiness. The article and the picture are so beautiful as we see AMMA in the lines and the photo.

Tat padam darsitam yena tasmai sree Amriteswariai namah

  11. Thank you swamiji. Here in Mumbai also we saw the smiling moon. I felt it was amma smiling and consoling her children in mumbai who are feeling helpless and tense after 26/11.
