Q96: Just 2 weeks?

“The doctors inform you that you still have just 2 weeks to live. How would you ideally want to spend them?”

  1. I would go where Amma is, spend all my time in chanting mantras and deep meditation.

  2. I would go to Amma and ask Her how to spend them!

What the doctor’s say is probabilistic time frame of 2 weeks,based on their diagnosis,experience in their profession only.They are not god’s to say things with absolute certainty.Despite this reasoning,since scientific knowledge has improved leaps & bounds,may be 2 weeks could be spent,on what the individual loves to do.Or can chant Shri Amma Sharanam Mama or Shri Krishna Sharanam Mama…..

  4. Thinking all the time about Amma. The fact is, we wont get to know even a second before our death that we are going to die. So its better to spend all the time thinking of Amma now only..

  5. Book a ticket , go to Amritapuri and ask Amma how to spend my last days!

  6. Assuming that the doctors are right, I would first ask forgiveness from those I have hurt and say that I forgive whoever has hurt me. I would give away my money and possessions (half to my family, half to whoever’s in need) and retire to a monastery. There I would meditate and reflect on the impermanence of life. I would also pray for the speedy enlightenment of all beings and that the great movement started by Amma continues to give love.

  10. Amma has taught us to be like a bird sitting on a twig who is aware that the twig may fall any moment and is all set to fly.

    Once I come to know this, I will fly towards AMMA, and be there at AMMA’s feet in rest of my life. (I think in that situation everybody will feel what selfless love and service really are)

  12. A great devotee (Ghatvagan) is mentionned in Sreemad Bhagavadam. Pleased with his penanace and good deeds Bhagavan appeared in front of him and offered him any boon except longivity as he has only 3 muhurtham. Do you know what he answerd? “Three Muhurtham is more than enough to realise the ultimate Truth”. And really without wasting a small part of Muhurtham, within three muhurtham he was able to realise the Supreme. So i pray at the Lotus feet of my most beloved Amma to be like Ghatvagan.

  14. Two Weeks..? that’s a long time… first i’ll be wondering how the doctors know that i will live for 2 weeks…
    maybe i won’t do anything else.. will do what i am doing now.. simply LIVE…

  15. It would be great if I can travel to India and ask Amma what to do. But I think I will spend it like any other day and pray as usual.

  16. Living can be a great blessing, especially remembering and serving AMMA. Surely pass the time in serving and remembering AMMA and await the final moment to be merged in the Eternal Mother.

  17. I was just reading yesterday about a courageous young boy diagnosed with leukemia and told he had only 2 weeks to live.. his last wish was to feed the homeless people. link here:

  18. In AMMA’s world, doctors and astrologists have little to do, AMMA takes care of all matters related to her children. Those that have full faith in AMMA do not think about death, in fact they do not fear death.
    I will live with more care to do more seva without wasting time.

  19. I don’t know what will be my health condition. Death is no fear for me. Thinking all the time of amma, chanting mantra, doing seva without wasting time is the regular part of my life but my wish is to live the rest of my life in amritapuri and donate useful organs of my dead body, and cremate my body (the rest) in Amma’s presence.

  20. i would like to get involved in social activities.. i m reminded of Parikshit who spent a week with Suka maharshi listening to bhagavatham.. ideally that wouls be the best way to utilize… my preacher being Amma 🙂

  21. Birth or Death… nothing is in our hands… leave everything to our beloved Amma….and be cool. Keep smiling because Amma is there for us in all situations.

  22. I would like to spend that period in presence of AMMA, chanting y mantra and singing bhajans …If my health support me then I would like to be involve in selfless service.

    to whomever i wanted to say that i loved them and never did, i would definitely do it….i would beg pardon from all those whom i have hurt with my words or actions…
    then i would come to my Amma, the final destination…..

  26. Yay!!! No more maya. Thank Amma, ensure that all paperwork and any other things are in order for my only child and then wait to merge into Amma with open arms. Hopefully this body will be able to chant mantra at that time. I am not sure if I would travel to Amma because I know that Amma is always with me spiritually 🙂

  27. Try to surrender all the remainder of my desires to Amma and remember Her as much as possible till the day of merging arrives (hopefully afterwards too). Pray to Amma to help me to let go of my vasanas and not create any new ones and help my loved ones to let go too of attachments.

  28. I would sign for organ donation once I did die, and then fly to India and spend my final weeks in meditation.

  29. Death is a certainty which can come at any instant. If somebody is guaranteeing two weeks, it is a happier situation. Spending rest of the time on prayers and sevas can be contemplated with the blessings and grace of Amma.

  30. I would choose to be by Amma’s side, smiling, peaceful, joyful, singing, and dancing.

  31. I would get plane tickets for myself and my children. My destination: wherever in the world Amma is!

  32. I would pray to amma to give strength for me and for all those who love me to face it .
    I want to be near amma all time with her blessings to spend every ounce of my energy,& every breath of me for social good.

  33. chant my mantra and keep my mind on Amma the ENTIRE TIME!!!!! Even the last second of my life :)….
    I will definitely do that when I feel that my life is coming to an end!

  34. I feel a little bad that I couldn’t be with amma all these years and then I will keep amma inside my heart all the time until THE TIME comes. I am not afraid of death! ….well…..may be a litttle bit now… dear amma please help me!!!

  36. I would try to forget myself and live for the happiness of all beings through all my thoughts, words, and actions, and do whatever I could to eliminate the negativity of the mind.
