As Amma moves to Pondicherry tomorrow, and continues to give darshan to yet another 50000 or so people, sacrificing Herself as usual, I remembered what Sri Aurobindo, the sage of Pondicherry had to say of the Divine Mother. Did He forsee that one day , the Divine Mother he writes so passionately about, would actually do this- not only descend, but personally start hugging her myriad children and consoling them one by one by one?…in an unprecedented act of Love hitherto unseen in all of human history? The sacrifice he writes about fits Amma so perfectly:

“The Mother not only governs all from above but she descends into this lesser triple universe… But personally too she has stooped to descend here into the Darkness that she may lead it to the Light, into this Death that she may turn it to godlike Life, into this world-pain and its obstinate sorrow and suffering that she may end it in the transforming ecstasy of her sublime Ananda. In her deep and great love for her children she has consented to put on herself the cloak of this obscurity, condescended to bear the attacks and torturing influences of the powers of the Darkness and the Falsehood, borne to pass through the portals of the birth that is a death, taken upon herself the pangs and sorrows and sufferings of the creation, since it seemed that thus alone could it be lifted to the Light and Joy and Truth and eternal Life. This is the great sacrifice called sometimes the sacrifice of the Purusha, but much more deeply the holocaust of the Prakriti, the sacrifice of the Divine Mother.”

  1. How wonderful my life is since I have met Ammamother. I am so blessed to be here on this plane where she is. I get to experience her darshan and I long for her physical presence again in my life when she returns to New Mexico. It is so transforming to be in her Presence. There are no words to translate what my heart feels. I am sure millions of other people experience the same or so many wouldn’t be so drawn to Her. How blessed we are and how full of gratitude is my heart.
