Amma told these words when i went to sit near her last week… it’s nice to contemplate on these thought provoking words

so posting it here for all devotees…

Amma was telling about the olden days when she and swamis had a tough time getting good water from this same area. She told it was very tough since most of the times the tap in the current ashram area will not be working and swamis had to go the main land to fetch the water. The people in the main land usually didn’t like this as there will already be a long queue over there. This used to be a tough time and a real test for their patience and surrender to Ammas orders to not to fight or get angry…
She also told, when the going gets tough, inmates used to dig small pits in the sand then, collect water draining in. Usually this water will be black in color and they used to develop small boils in the skin after sometime…
After a good rain, the backwaters will have a fresh water supply and they used to collect it using buckets.

Even though she told all these she was indirectly telling all of us to minimize the usage of water i think.
Her words are always sugar coated medicines to make us a better human being. it’s we who should decide whether to eat the medicinal part or not.

  1. It is amazing how these stories help us to conserve in our daily life. Once I was told about an incident where glass was broken in uncooked rice and how a line of many devotees spent much time and attention picking out the glass pieces and soaking and rinsing the rice several times and nearly picking through pounds of rice grain by grain…all so the rice would not be wasted. Since then I am always very aware of my own personal food waste. It actually happened that somehow my roommate’s rice spilled all over the kitchen floor. She said ‘Throw it away’, but because of ammas story I kept the rice and soaked it and rinsed it many times before cooking.
