It’s a Joy
The expresso and pastry bar is a popular spot at Amma’s European programs. In Munich, the lines never seemed to end as the crowd quaffed lattes, expressos and cappuccinos the whole day long. From 9 am onward, every time I passed by, I saw the same crew hard at work, hour after hour. One day I offered some commiseration about the thousands of cups of coffee and intense long hours. The blonde worker, sporting a white chef’s hat, looked at me uncomprehendingly, and said, “It’s a joy, we love doing it.” There were also non-stop waffle and crepe makers. Young…

Hiding in you
A soft fondle of breeze carry a smile over petal lips. Mist of mystic mystery hangs, in reverence. Nature stands still, in silence. A chant of love percolates, shading pink on petals. The blush of love for God, emanates from hearts, like beetles hum. In the lotus of hearts, Mother of all Mothers sits, listening to every thought, every prayer n’ every complaint, registers in her nature. By slow strides she walks in, chanting a mantra in your ears. Then she hides in you, watching you chant. Often She smiles in ecstasy, Sings a song of profound love, Merging herself…

Looking at Creation
It is early autumn in Europe. The forests and grass are green with a few yellow and red accents. Gardens are still producing pumpkins, squash, tomatoes, greens and peppers. A few roses bloom along with the autumn mums, zinnias, and cosmos. As we drove from Zurich to Munich, snow covered the mountains and white mist moved between sky, mountains and lakes. Amma had reminded us in a Zurich satsang that nature is the visible form of God. This transcendent landscape certainly lifted our minds to the Infinite. We hoped that Amma might be gazing through her camper window and also…

Vijayadasami offering
O! Mother, Thy descent marked new blissful dawn, For the entire creation love unconditional is given. Thou knowest, Thou art blissful , an’ unborn, The incomprehensible Self, th’ Supreme One. Mother, when the darkness was considered as light, Thou didst share love an’ kindness even as a child, To th’ old, sick, poor, an’ elderly as a mere servant, Though th’ Truth being veiled, Thy play so loving an’ mild. Mother, when sorrows overpowered happiness, Thy sheer selflessness shed light of pure joys. Though th’ deluded ones couldn’t understand Thy ways, That dispelled th’ dark clouds of misery, by Thy…

Krishna’s smile
A mass of ecstasy was born, In a cell of dust and darkness, erected by boulders of greed. He was born as midnight sun, had his little body covered by sky. On feathers of love he slept. Stars winked at each other…. Galaxies merged in milky-way . Supernova’s boomeranged. Shooting stars carried a message, “ time has arrived for action.” He arrived on a promised mission, to fulfill his promise to humanity. World grind to a standstill. With awe and anxiety struck, peacocks danced fanning their quills. One unique feather adorned his crown. Divine music flung from bamboos. There was…

Hold me tight
My heart beats fast; on reaching near you. A sea of emotions flood my eyes, like tidal waves it washes ashore, deposits every filth n’ mud of my past. There is a dark cloud hanging behind me. Thunder n’ lightning blasts off my chest, Ghosts of innumerable desires pull me apart. Oh ! My mother help me cut loose my ties. Let me be in your comforting hold. Help me breathe easy …with thy name in and out. Let me exhale your chant Aummmmmm. Oh Divine Mother hold me tight til then! Let me feel your light n’ compassion. by…

UPA-NISHAT
UPA-NISHAT (SIT NEARBY) Unaware I reached you. Experience your grace. One benevolent look by you. I melted down. I sat closer to you, nearby your side…. World outside chirps, murmurs. I felt zeroing myself. I fell silent. I have no questions. Your silence answers me. I meet you in completeness, pervasive mute divinity. Oh my mother. I smile, smile, smile. by Satheesan R

Empowering Women
I have always heard of Amma’s charitable and humanitarian work and respected her for all that She has done for the society. However, Amritavarsham 60 was provided me with an opportunity to meet people whose lives she has touched and changed. My first brush was with the volunteers of the AmritaSREE project, and the Women Emporwement (WE) activities of the U.N. registered NGO of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Embracing the World (ETW). A quick snapshot to the activities of ETW gave me an idea of the extent to which Amma’s charitable projects have changed the lives of people around her. Started…

Time Transcendental Mother
Mother, when hast Thou created the Universes? With galaxies of billion solar systems as verses, Written as endless poetry by an eminent poet, Only to be born as human to know all about it. Mother, Thou art the greatest unexplored artist, Who painted wonderful colours of cosmic rays, The incomprehensible formless Self hidden silent, Though timelessly inspiring humans in many ways. Mother, Thy descent rescued the fallen and virtuous alike, From the shackles of wretched and vicious habitual likes, Revealing the Infinite potential hidden within to be uncovered, Thus spiritually awakening countless souls forever to be blessed. O! Mother of…
