  1. Matrix 1, 2 and 3 have a strong message of the ephemeral and the Truth. Like the world that is plugged onto your head in the movie, this world is also made of the mind that perceives through the five senses.
“Scent of a Woman” is another great movie wherin the blind Lt. Colonel at the end of the movie gives a speech about the easy way and the hard way. Nowadays, everyone takes the easy way. The hard way based on principles and truth is difficult to follow in this age. But, Amma emphasizes the dharmic way. As the scriptures say “Those who protect TRUTH will be protected by IT”.

  2. AMMA! AMMA is SRIMAD BHAGWAD GITA!

  3. Nowadays which movie has a spiritual message ? very few. So i love watching spiritual movies like Annamacharya and Amman in tamil. They just make me cry for God. I love these two spiritual movies.

  4. Actually it was ‘Jesus Christ Super star’, and appropriately I watched it at Easter. I’d never seen the film before, it came out when I was just 2 years old. It captured something despite being a very low budget simple film, set in the desert, a 1970’s rock opera. What affected me was the humble portrayal of Christ, humble but also radiant and joyful. I enjoyed the portrayal of the devotion of those around him, the celebration. It left a kind of subtle bliss inside, that lingered with the strains of the Hosanna song. The message was simple, and was one of joy..

  5. “Mao’s Last Dancer” & “The Blind Side” – based on true life-stories where struggle, adversity, cultural difference are overcome through communication, discipline, perserverance, strength/courage, kindness, and compassion. “UP”, an animation featuring respect and friendship in an adventurous communication between young and elderly. All depict compassion, the foundation of “spirituality”. All are spirituality in motion! A spiritual message is perception of events, these are mine.

  6. Don’t see movie for spirituality. It will misinterpret & diminish spirituality. For spirituality practice meditation or see a good Guru.See movie for enjoyment.Nothingness & infinity is same for spiritual thinkers & it can be realized only by meditation & using the unused part of the brain & not by superstars & technology.Movie makes GOD a superstar. We cannot think of GOD who created himself initially without mass or energy.

  7. I saw a great movie recently called ‘Son of Man’…it is the story of Jesus Christ set in modern day South Africa…The life of Christ like Amma’s life is so relevant and meaningful in any country at any time…This movie was so well done and heart-moving I would recommend to everybody…There is only one truth as Amma teaches us…It has always existed and always will exist…and that Truth is The Word of God expressed through the lives of the Avatars…Jai Ma!!!!

  8. “MY NAME IS KHAN”
True Pure Unconditional Selfless LOVE can conquer everything…
    Amazing movie.

  9. I saw Alice in Wonderland, in which Alice must face adversity in her dream world which helps her to face it in the real world. She also gets to live her life to the fullest potential, which is what conquering our inner demons allows us to do, both in the cinema and in real life.

  10. Our present life is it self a movie the best spiritual movie is darshan of my beloved AMMA

  11. ” Kabhi Alvida Na Kehana ” 🙁
the spiritual message was “don’t even THINK about watching a hindi movie, if it’s a Shahrukh Khan starer “.

  12. Unfortunately i have no habit of seeing movies whether it is regarding spiritual or matter.Actually what is the meaning of spirituality? study or inquiry or learn about our Pure Self or Consciousness. To know about it i think, there is no need of seeing a movie. It can obtain from the Sadhana, Scriptures, and presence and teachings of Mahatmas like our most beloved Amma.Of course there are good religious pictures like Sree guruvayoorappan,Sree Ayyappan etc.Recently incidentally i happen to see a part of a good Malayalam picture(Nandanam), but it is neither spiritual nor religious. There was a good message in that picture.

  13. I saw ‘BalGanesh’ last week. It was a cartoon film for children. It told me Ganesh’s story in an entertaining way. I saw ‘Lovely Bones’ some time ago and that was very well made, though horrible. It is the story of a girl who was murdered by a serial killer and most of the story is from her soul’s perspective. The soul watching her family, the murderer and the boyfriend whom she was planning to meet. The other world and the fluidity of the soul is so ‘real’ that sometimes it gives me an idea of what will happen after death. Sometimes, I feel I am already in that state watching things and not being part of it…

  14. An independent film called “What the Bleep do we know” – starring a deaf oscar winning actress, talks about the effect of beliefs on health and your life and success. Spiritual as it defines how good kind words have measurable effects (e.g on water) (your body is mostly water)

  15. I saw a good movie while looking for something at the video store it’s called Conversations With God a bio pic of the author who wrote the book. It seems hard to find something like this in the mainstream which is too bad.

    Grata

  17. Avatar, Pursuit of Happyness, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Forrest Gump are a few of the many spiritual (i felt it to be so) English movies. In Malayalam – Nandanam, Kazhcha, Amaram, Aparan, Munnam Pakkam have a vulnerable human element. Hindi – the old movie Jnaneshwar, Lagaan, Parineeta, and the more recent Wake up Sid and 3 idiots all have relevant messages.

  18. recently, i saw taare zaamen par, and it moved me deeply, because it showed how the innocent divine child in us becomes like imprisoned, when we get too afraid and bound by too many stresses, and it was beautiful to see how simple love and attention can free us again, to be our true self, and express our real nature … i was deeply touched by this movie
since god is everywhere, i think almost anything can be a spiritual experience, if we view it with love and openness (of course, some movies really are too violent, but then, why watch it, if we don’t want that?!)

  19. I was watching a Tamil action film Tornai…as the film was coming to an end the villains chase the hero with guns and the hero approaches towards a maroon Quails jeep to escape the bullets. Looking at the jeep I folded my hands & was remembering “amma” I thought to my self what ‘s happening to me when the most intresting part of the film was going on…I was taken a back when in the next shot ,the hero changes the gear I see “amma’s” picture inside the jeep…now that’s something divine for me…

  20. Krithi thanks for sharing this wonderful experience of yours. To watch Amma in a movie, wow !

  21. I recently watched an animated movie, based on The Ramayan. It had, of course a deep spiritual significance, most of which I was unable to grasp. Nevertheless, something did penetrate finally.
There was this instance, where Lord Ram was burying dead soldiers of both armies during the battle in Lanka. When someone expressed the opinion that, burying the dead soldiers who fought for Ram, with those who did for Ravan, was an insult to the dead soldiers, Ram said that only before they died, they were soldiers of Ram or Ravan, now they are all one.
There was this other incident, where Lord Hanuman reaches Lanka in search of Sita Devi. There, He tells Devi that He Himself can take Her out of Lanka. But, Devi says, there are many people who have been captured by Ravan, and made prisoners. It is not righteousness to come out of there alone, abandoning many innocent people.
Both these incidents, gave a glimpse of the elevated ideas of avatars/sages like them.

  22. Didi, I liked your answer very much..its true, innocence is with in us and how it gets awaken with Amma’s one loving touch.

  23. ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’. Kung Fu Panda is a very good animated film with a very good message: “there is no secret ingredient to become a successful person: we just need to believe in ourselves”.
The pursuit of happiness is a very touching movie: it shows how people in the street struggles to get a place to sleep….

  24. recently i saw nan kadavul.it is a film in which hero plays the role of an aghori sanyasi. his fearlessness, non attachment, his karunya, and also his strong fight against adharma and his devotion to his guru all has been brought out very well. The film really stands different compared to the other masala movies. the director has done a good job.

  25. After reading about Amma and reading & listening to her messages, actually we should be seeing and experiencing Spirituality all the time and in all situations-in all our daily experiences & activities, whether it is our work, reading a book or seeing a movie, playing with our friends/children etc. In fact, all Art forms-music, drama, dance forms, paintings should be able to move our minds, sensitize us and elevate us to make us realize our spituality!
I am trying to my best abilities to achieve this, but do not how far I am able to emulate this. While reading, yes to a great extent, we seem to be able to reflect and achieve it partly. Movies, well – difficult to say!
Some movies are really good and 2 such movies I can recollect are Taare Zameen Par & Alice in Wonderland!

  26. Star Wars, Matrix and Avatar… These movies have two basic messages for me: believe in that which is within you and remember your oneness with all life on this planet.

  27. “Padre Pio” -Miracle Man year 2000 by Carlo Carlei. This is a pure Bhakti movie. You will be moved to tears time and time again as this Great Soul was totally devoted to God alone. This is a movie for Swamis, as they will truly appreciate it.

  28. After some two years or so I happened to see a movie recently named Avatar (in 2D!). A part of me was thinking that it is a “classic invasion story” in new bottle. But one important spiritual thought occurred to me only after seeing the movie. We are all part of a bigger tree in this “Pandora” which gives us the power to love and heal. We don’t see that and We invade that tree with bombs and grenades of our vasanas and egos. Strikingly similar to “We are all beads strung on the same thread…” as the Ewya of this Pandora says always!!!

  29. “Brother Sun, Sister Moon.” Franco Zeffirelli’s moving portrait of St. Francis of Assisi is the most powerful image of spiritual abandonment and devotion I have ever seen. Also, “Into Great Silence” which documents the absolute purpose and presence surrounding the age-old routines of the monks at Grande Chartreuse monastery in France. Their silence is broken only by prayer and song.

  30. Baraka. It had a very spiritual message for me as it shows spirituality being practiced in different places, religions and cultures. It has no words which helps me open my heart. And it shows the sadness of our modern society so disconnected from God.

  31. Sant Tukaram in Marathi with English titles.

  32. 2012 Event Horizon: Prophecies and Science of a Golden Age, by David Wilcock, it is a 2 hours documentary we can see on youtube, the vision of this man blew my mind, he gave me a wider vision of this universe…

  33. River of Love ( Amma )
When I show it to my friend all enjoy and then they wish to meet Amma have their Darshan. Italians, brasilians, canadians friends from every race.
