Don’t forsake me!

Oh Mother, how do I find thee
As I mould myself into my working life

Oh Mother, how do I find thee
Among the concrete earth and towering glass and steel

Oh Mother, how do I find thee
As I play the obedient child in the world of money and profit

Where among this barren world of commerce and sales
Do you hide among the suits and ties

Mother, don’t forsake me, stay near to my heart as
I traverse the perils and pitfalls of my working life

  1. Very touching post Linda. Your post ‘Dont forsake me’ is sure to strike a chord with all who are in professional working life. i faced the same situation many years ago and am now reminded of all this. Just want to share. Amma is in the details. In the profit and loss accounts, in balance sheets and within the grim faces of men and women in coats and ties. Huge buidlings of steel and Amma is there too. By Ammas grace, we can smell Ammas fragrance anywhere from household kitchens to corporate offices. Our Beloved Amma is everywhere and everything that is. Professional life when offered to Amma becomes Karma Yoga. Thanks for your beautiful post.

  2. May Amma shower her sweet bessings on you to remember Amma every time.
    nice poem.

  3. Not to grumble much.
AMMA is our very life breath.
We must learn to live with awareness and alertness practising what AMMA teaches us.

To say “Don’t forsake me!” is like saying “Mother, I want to live without breathing.” No, it’s not possible.

Our own body is the Temple of AMMA.
Our own breath, the life force is its sustaining power.
Our thoughts are nearer to the Self or AMMA if focused on AMMA.

May AMMA bless us to be contemplative and full of peace and benevolence.

  4. Vow! Beautiful poem..isn’t it Amma herself disguising in all that we see..

  5. You just spoke the mind of most of us struggling through the pitfalls of the external world. As Priya has said, Amma is everywhere. We just have to focus a little bit from time to time to see her in everything permanently. May we all be worthy of Amma’s grace to see her at all times.
    Om Namah Shivaya
