A famous football player. He was talented, enthusiastic and had human qualities. He was my role model and I just wanted to become like him… That was so long ago, but I remember that the energy was very genuine and positive.
i had no idols in my childhood(before i met Amma).. i used to be in my own way in the dream of achieving success in every field.. but once i met Amma.. i started admiring her , adoring her…
Mahatma Gandhi. ‘Ahimsa’ and ‘Truthfulness’. Both are difficult to practice unless one is completely fearless, which requires absolute faith in ‘God’ and complete surrender to His wishes.
“Cinderella” & “The Sleeping Beauty”!!!
Both beautiful Princesses, with sad stories but happy endings!! 🙂
Lord Krishna and his pranks, magic, might and omniscience
MY childhood idol changed according to my mind and desires. But when I met AMMA and came to know the truth of life, My IDOL BECAME MY DIVINE AMMA
Krishna and His supreme love and courage.
Mother Teresa, her services to suffering people, a politician, her courage, and Sita Devi, her devotion to Her husband.
My childhood hero was Sri Krishna.
I don’t remember as seeing him with any ideals !
But of course i considered him as my best friend and brother.
As of now ,it’s Amma.
She’s everything one could wish to get.
A mother,A Supreme guru,A guide,A help,A God,A True friend and much more.
🙂
Mother Teresa. yes, she had so much compassion and spirit of service in her.
Actualy i had no perticular idols in the childhood. But whatever idols i perceived i pretend and assumed it as my Kanaya. There was a very very small temple very very near to ,i wish to say that the compound wall of the temple and my residence was one and the same, and the main idol in the Sanctum sanctorum of the temple was Lord Shiva. So in accordance with the mood of my Bhava idol will become sometimes Umapati ,sometimes Ramapati,Sometimes Sitapati in the respective auspecious days. And also there was a small river can’t say river , a stream and i use to imagine and assume that it is holly Mata Ganga and how Lord shiva is expert in hiding the Holly Gangaji in the matted locks and to give the half portin of himself to Devi Parvathiji. And when i look at the mischivious kananya i feel how naughty and expert he is to attract and steal the heart of Radhika.
Funny that this question was put out today. My idol before meeting Amma, and still after meeting Amma (also as a kid), was Michael Jackson. His music is the only one apart from bhajans that has touched my heart. We are the world, Earth Song, Heal the world, Man in the mirror… these songs all talk about love, about looking after our planet. I pray that he is now finally free and in peace, and can be the child he is.
Lord Rama. Since I was 5 years old I loved Rama. My mother would read Sunderkand from Ramayana in the mornings at 5. I would get up early so I could hear it and would ask of stories of Rama. Ammachi is also the embodiment of all those ideals like Rama: truthfulness, peacefulness, humility, righteousness, love for all, respectful to entire creation, worshipful & perfect in every way. My idol now is Amma and I love her with all my heart.
Lord Hanuman…:)))
when i was a li’l girl, my mother used to feed me, telling me stories from Ramayana: how Hanuman on his powerful shoulders carried Rama and Laksmana, how he set Lanka on fire with his looong tail…My imagination used to fly high and i would see myself sitting like dat and soaring!!!!
Now, grown up, my idol still remains the same and it’s more of awe and respect for Hanuman’s unflinching devotion for His Master.
Sri Krishna and Amma! Even when I was a small child, around the age of 5, I would dance infront of my picture of Kanna, and when I played with my baby dolls, I would pretend that one of them was Him.
My childhood idols were Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa, my eyes even now fill-up with tears whenever I think about that great master, and Swami Vevekananda, Now of-course my IDOL is amma, I am so blessed to be one of amma’s children, amma, Lokaha Samstaha Sukhino Bhavatu.
Johnny Sokko of giant robot series
My idols, when growing up, were the characters from the novels I read. I was always moved when reading about characters who tried so hard and sacrificed so much for their ideals and causes. To better the world and to help those who were in trouble.
I started admiring mother Teresa who sacrificed her life for people and her services to suffering people with compassion .Now Amma in my life. Lokaha Samstaha Sukhino Bhavatu.Thank u amma ,serving you directly or indirectly.
My main childhood idol was Lord Ganesha, for a variety of reasons I adored the remover of obstacles; his love for food, his wit and wisdom, and his devotion for his parents. But, various other idols like, cricket players, authors and actors too entered my horizon in my growing years. Now, for a long time Amma has occupied that position:for her simplicity, compassion, selflessness, humility and love. Somewhere along the way I identify her with my Lord Ganesha. Both are a lot alike.
My hero figure was Lord Shiva because he is penniless and smeared with ash and as offering likes just leaves. He drank poison for others. He is full of love for his wife and always stood by her and told her secrets about the universe. I liked Parvati, especially how she graduated to living on air for Shiva’s attention. I also liked an uncle who could do magic (like sticking magnetised pins) in a physics lab and told us a story every day.
Our tharavadu was situated near Sree Ramakrishna Parahamsa Ashram and lot of Temples. All our family members were inclined to spirituality, so do I. I studied in the Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa Ashram for sometime. Even after moving to other institutions I used to visit the Ashram and all other temples of Ganapathi, Shiva, Krishna, Rama, Ayyappa, Bhagavathi, Muruga and church. All forms of God/Goddes were my Idol till I met Amma. I could visualize all those forms in Amma and understood that She was there with me all the time in different forms. She is my real Idol/Hero. Amma Sharanam.
I am surprised to see this question here today 🙂 I have been a big fan of Michael Jackson since young and simply love his humanity and kindness. I loved those songs that have touched or changed many people out there today.
Michael Jackson. Has been since I was 10. You’re just another part of me, Heal the world, Will you be there, Earth Song…He claimed that his song fell into his lap from above and felt guilty putting his name on them. He was aware of the fact that we are not the doer but God. He thought he was just a channel for God’s music. I love him forever more.
My idol was Krishna. His sweet smile, his braveness, his love, his philosaphy, his teachings, his dressing, his radha, his gopies, his vrindhavan – all that relates to Srikrishna. I am so much found of him that, some time it create great pain.
Robin hood. I admired him for giving to the poor. I didn’t reflect much on his stealing. As a child I thought he was brave and nice to be spreading the wealth among those who needed it. Now, as an adult, I think I would go about it differently, and perhaps, ask nicely.
Lord Krishna.
