  1. Restlessness and selfishness go together.
Unselfishness relieves us like true medicine,
From the disease of the mind altogether.
AMMA grant Thy love which is ultimate medicine.

  2. I think that restlessness are actually feelings that haven’t been given the value and honour that they’re asking for. Often it are feelings we push away because we are told we’re not suposed to have them or that we are affraid of that they would never leave if we let them in. Or it are feelings we make bigger or cling on to because we’re told we should do so, or we ‘re affraid of what comes when we let go. Maybe rest will come if we find a way to value our feelings right and honour them

  3. i think restlessness comes from not giving something full attention. when everything is done with careful attention there won’t be any restlessness.

  4. I think the maim reason of reslessness is our identification with the body.mind and intellect. That time we are away from our True nature. Our True nature is “sat-chi-Anamdam(Existence-comciousness-and Bliss}When we identify with body ,phisicaly we are in a srate of rest or restlesness; when we identify with the mind emotionaly we are in the mood of a rest or restlessnes; and when we identify with the intellect, intllectlually in a state of rest or restlessness. In order to overcome this reslessness ,we have to go beyond these three states and to reach to the knower of these three states{Sakshi}.That is the big ‘I’ or Self or Atma or Guru or God.whatever we want to call it.just call it.To attain or catch or reach or know this big ‘I’ the only way is to sit alone and think and meditate.

  5. I think restlessness is the old tendencies/vasanas that have not been cleared out (by clearing techniques such as continuous heartfelt mantra repetition). Its also longing for union with the OM in everything?

  6. I felt very restless thinking about my future. what is going to happen in the future in life ? where am I heading ? who will be with me forever in life ? All these questions made me restless, but once I met beloved Amma, I knew Amma will take care of my present and future and will be with me for many many lives to come and I knew so there is no need for me to get restless anymore. Thanks Amma.

  7. restlessness due to the shock of birth, vital shock.great being has been in bodyed

  8. Restlessness occures when you feel aimless and you dont find solace in anything but if there is grace of divine AMMA you are almed at the same momemnt. Many a times I feel restless and I just cry and cry and remember my Divine AMMA and it vanishes

  9. Restlessness springs from lack of awareness. If we are totally aware of ourselves all the time when we are in the wakeful, dream and deep sleep state, there will be total joy and no restlessness. One who is restless do not have peace inside. Amma’s beloved disciple Swami Purnamritaji gives a fine definition for Worldliness and spirituality. He says Worldly life is Effort without Rest and Spirituality is Rest without any effort. Let this thought inspire us.

  10. We get restless when we go out to the world..by allowing God’s grace, we will become aware and dive-in safely with zero cost 🙂 else, we still dive-in but not until we get beaten enuf outside 😉

  11. When we are identified with the body and forget our divine nature, we are caught in this drama called life and its wordily matters…
for me the only way out is to “remember” who i am, to contentiously repeat my mantra, meditate and connect with AMMA… and like magic: no more restlessness!!! 🙂

  12. When the mind is not in our control, we become restless. I think the only way to overcome this is to chant our Mantra with full devotion.

  13. We feel restless when we are worried about the results of the actions we did, a constant thought “whether things will go the way I wanted”. As AMMA would always say, do your best and leave the rest! restlessness will vanish. Nama Shivaya!

  14. The mind is restlessness itself. It is always evualating the world, good or bad, right or wrong…alway with polarities. We need to go beyond the mind to find peace. Powerful concentration with the mind on one onbject makes the mind burn itself up…and then the higher states of samadhi meditation start unitl complete dissolution occurs.
