  1. I use only one pair of slippers and have another one pair just incase the first pair gets worn out. I dont spend much on footwear. But am surprised that nowadays footwears like shoes and slippers which are just to cover our feet are so costly. How can the poor afford it ?

  2. im quite embarassed to answer because i have too many pairs. only 2 feet but many more shoes.
and yes of course it could become less and i think i will do so

  3. Right now, i use only one pair of shoes. I have a pair of sandals and a pair of dress slippers with me. I think i can stick to one pair only.

  4. Two pairs, one for office, one for home

  5. I live in Canada, here everyone keeps multiple shoes, each for one season – winter, Summer, fall and Spring. Even small children use a shoe for going to school and then after reaching school they change to a different pair of shoes called the “gym shoe”. Recently due to the heavy snow I also started using a snow shoe for coming to office and then started changing to a different pair after coming to office.
After seeing this question I felt guilty, in fact I felt AMMA is watching me being extravagant. So I started using only one shoe to come to work.

  6. Right now i have 2 pairs of sports shoe and two pairs of sandals and a pair of slipper. But one pair of shoe is useless. I brought it for a cheap rate, so one feet is perfect size and other is small. So what to do? i have to go for a costly one. Usually i keep two pairs of sandals because very time when there is a big crowd in the Temple or Ashram definitely my sandlas will get lost. So in order to avoid the risk i used to keep a spair one. Otherwise i have to walk at least two days bare foot till i purchase a new one.

  7. I have work shoes, boots, sneakers, slippers, sandals, dress shoes… oh too many! I could keep work shoes, slippers & sneakers and give away the rest to needy. Amma teaches us to live very simple. I think that awareness and practice is what is important. Collection of shoes does reflect how we live and I must clean up my act!

  8. I always have 2 pairs one for work and the other is for any functions.I will only change when it is worn out or when my dear dogs got on hold of my sandles. They love my sandles.

  9. Two pairs of trainers (sneakers), two pairs of “proper” smart shoes for work, and one pair of wellies. So 5 pairs. Sort of need them all so I have a spare if one gets too dirty!

  10. Total 5 pairs, i.e 2 sports shoes, 1 casual wear, 1 shoe for work and one slippers.I was about to buy 1 more shoe for my office wear as it is slightly worn out.Would restrict the numbers of shoes henceforth and would buy only if there is a need.Think I can do with a maximum of 2 pairs.

  11. Far too many, have a whole 4 tier shoe rack just filled with my shoes. Different colours, diff heel lengths…
The question is definitely fruit for thought…
Got to reassess my needs. Thanks!

  12. i recently gave a pair of shoes away but i still have a lot (6). amma has already chided me on my purchasing habits. i usually walk wherever i’m going so i should be wearing out a pair fairly soon. good question to keep us humble!

  13. I used to have 3 pairs of shoes, one for dirty outdoor use, one pair of sandals for hot weather, and one current pair that fit well. But…being a minimalist, I got rid of my old shoes that were falling apart. I should have kept them so that I could have them right by my bed in the event of an earthquake, which we are way overdue for in the Bay Area. Oh yes, I also have one pair of dress shoes which I rarely use, & 1 pair of clogs which I never use. I guess that actually makes 5 pairs of shoes.

  14. I think about 18. I think I am the reincarnation of Imelda Marcos!

  15. I never had shoes in my earlier life, but… as I grew up, I put lot of “shoes” to cover several things and to keep up with the boosting ego. Now I understood that shoes can only hide my “sore-foot” if not worsen, but absolutely cannot heal it!

  16. One pair of winter boots for the ice and snow. One pair of regular shoes for the rest of the year.
    This is one strange question.

  17. I have seven pairs of slippers and shoes. Surprisingly, I seem to need them all.

  18. 2 …. one is executive and the other is a sportswear….
i believe i should keep them both and should not cut them down since both serve 2 important purposes…

  19. As I am working in a factory, safety shoes are compulsory and I have two pairs.

  20. As a child, we only got new shoes when our feet hurt or they (not our feet!) were falling apart. Now I have more, several boots for winter, and several sandals for summer. But the question allowed me to see that I sometimes have things I don’t use any longer, so I just gave away three pairs that I felt someone would love to have. They were nice and that made me feel good. So, yes, I could have less!

  21. Two pairs. One for games, the other for show-make-life-style.
