ദേശീയരാജപാതയുടെ ശുചീകരണം ഏറ്റെടുത്തു കൊണ്ടാണ് അനന്തപുരിയിലെ അമ്മയുടെ മക്കള്‍ കൈരളീദേവിയുടെ അന്‍പത്തിനാലാം ജന്മദിനപ്പുലരിയ്ക്ക് വഴിതെളിച്ചത്. കുടുംബശ്രീ അംഗങ്ങളും സര്‍ക്കാരിന്‍റെ സ്വയംഭരണ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളും യഥാശക്തി മാലിന്യനിര്‍മ്മാര്‍ജ്ജനം നടത്തി വരുന്ന കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍, മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റി മേഖലകള്‍ ഒഴിച്ചു നിര്‍ത്തികൊണ്ട് ദേശീയപാതയില്‍ മഠം മാലിന്യശേഖരണത്തിന് വീപ്പകള്‍ സ്ഥാപിക്കാന്‍ ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടിരുന്ന 13 ശുചീകരണമേഖലകള്‍ മുന്‍കൂട്ടി നിര്‍ണ്ണയിച്ച് ഒക്‌ടോബര്‍ 31ന് ഉച്ചതിരിഞ്ഞ് 2 മണിയ്ക്ക് ആശ്രമത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് രണ്ട് സ്‌കൂള്‍ ബസുകളിലായി നൂറോളം സന്നദ്ധസേവകര്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു.
യാത്രപുറപ്പെടുന്നതിന് മുന്‍പു തന്നെ ഓരോ വ്യക്തിയും എവിടെ ഇറങ്ങണമെന്നും എന്താണ് ചെയ്യേണ്ടതെന്നും വ്യക്തമായ നിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കിയിരുന്നു. ഒരു കൂട്ടര്‍ ചവര്‍ തൂത്തുകൂട്ടുകയും, മറ്റ് മാലിന്യങ്ങള്‍ പെറുക്കിയെടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോള്‍, ഓരോ സംഘം വടക്കോട്ടും തെക്കോട്ടും പാതയരികിലുള്ള വീടുകളിലും കടകളിലും കയറിയിറങ്ങി ബോധവല്‍ക്കരണം നടത്തുകയും സ്വന്തം വീട്ടിലേയും കടയിലേയും ചവറ് അതാതിടങ്ങളില്‍ കുഴി നിര്‍മ്മിച്ച് കമ്പോസ്റ്റ് ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്നതിന്‍റെ സാദ്ധ്യതകള്‍ വിവരിക്കുകയും നോട്ടീസ് വിതരണം ചെയ്യുയും ചെയ്തു.
നാല് ചെറുപ്പക്കാര്‍ ഓരോ സ്ഥലത്തും ബാനറുകള്‍ കെട്ടുന്നതില്‍ മാത്രം ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ആശ്രമത്തില്‍ തയ്യാറാക്കിയ ഇ.എം (ണേണചെതിവ െന്മിചറൗ ഒറഗഅനിശമÿ ശൗല്‍ുതിൗന) തളിച്ച് ദുര്‍ഗന്ധമകറ്റാന്‍ മറ്റ് രണ്ടു പേര്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. ഈ ശുചീകരണ യജ്ഞത്തിനാവശ്യമായ ചൂലും മറ്റും ഭക്തജനങ്ങള്‍ തന്നെ കൊണ്ടുവരികയും അധികമായി വേണ്ടി വന്നവയും കയ്യുറകളും മാത്രം ആശ്രമത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് എടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. ശേഖരിച്ച പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക്കും കുപ്പിച്ചില്ലും മറ്റും തരം തിരിച്ച് ജൈവാപചയപ്രക്രിയയ്ക്ക് വിധേയമാവുന്ന പ്ലാസ്റ്റിക് ബാഗുകളില്‍ നിറച്ചത് തിരുവനന്തപുരം കോര്‍പ്പറേഷന്‍റെ പ്രത്യേക അനുമതിയോടെ അവരുടെ രണ്ട് മാലിന്യശേഖരണ വാഹനങ്ങളില്‍ എത്തിച്ച് കയറ്റി വിടുകയും ബാക്കി അതാതിടങ്ങളില്‍ കൂട്ടിയിട്ട് കത്തിച്ചു കളയുകയും ചെയ്തു. പലയിടങ്ങളിലും നാട്ടുകാരും സഹായിക്കാന്‍ ഒരുങ്ങിയെങ്കിലും മുന്നോട്ടു വരാന്‍ മടിച്ചു നിന്നവരും പരിഹസിച്ച് ചിരിച്ചവരും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നെന്നില്ല. അടുത്ത യജ്ഞവിളംബരത്തിനായി കാതോര്‍ത്തു കൊണ്ട് മങ്ങാത്ത ഉത്സാഹവുമായി സന്ധ്യയ്ക്ക് ഏഴുമണിയോടു കൂടി എല്ലാവരും ആശ്രമത്തില്‍ മടങ്ങിയെത്തി.
ഈ വിരാട് യജ്ഞത്തില്‍ സംപ്രീതയായ പ്രകൃതി മാതാവും കാര്‍മേഘാവൃതമായ ആകാശത്താല്‍ സൂര്യതാപം തടുത്തും പെയ്‌തൊഴിയാന്‍ അവയ്ക്കനുമതി നല്‍കാതെയും മക്കളുടെ മനഃശുദ്ധിയ്ക്കും അവരുടെ മക്കളുടെ ആരോഗ്യത്തിനും ഉതകുന്ന അമലഭാരതം അമൃതമാതരം പരിപാടിയെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു. സര്‍വാന്തര്യാമിയായ അമ്മയുടെ കൃപാര്‍ദ്രനേത്രങ്ങള്‍ പൊഴിച്ച സുധാംശുക്കള്‍ പ്രസന്നചിത്തരായ മക്കള്‍ക്ക് പ്രസാദമധുമായും ഭവിച്ചു.
It is a very relevant initiative in the right direction.
I feel, this should be extended to address the garbage problem at pilgrim centers. It is a real eye sore to see the kind of heaps of junk, the devotees leave around. Be it Palani, Thiruvannamalai or Sabarimala. As the season at Sabarimala starts now, this is the right time to focus on this for educating people towards achieving a permanent solution. Any work towards this directions would attract the good will and support of youngsters.
If required, even a dedicated voluntary organization needs to be created along with other voluntary organizations like VHP, Shiv Sena, Ayyappa Seva Sangam and other Ashrams.
Instead of expecting one group to litter and another group to toil to clear it up, it should focus on awareness and inculcating a new culture. A visit of a team of volunteers to Sabarimala to educate the shop owners to convince them to compulsorily keep waste bins at visible points in front of their shops with properly written requests to devotees to use them. Make the shop owners also the stake holders in maintaining the cleanliness of the premises by asking them to repeatedly request the devotees to use the waste bins. Slowly this group of stake holders should be expanded to include archakas doing pithru tharpanam, Guruswamis, drivers and conductors, laborers etc. Should be able to convince ayyappas to bring back the junk (which they created) atleast to Pampa and dispose it at predesignated points where volunteers and health workers can assist them to dispose it. They should be educated to understand that clearing our own junk is also a punya karma, just like carrying back the prasadam. This will reduce the garbage in Sabarimala.
You can think of new ideas as well. Like environment police in Sabarimala. The volunteers with bands and badges need to stop those who litter and ‘punish’ them by asking them to offer 5 “ethamidal” by chanting Swamiye Saranamayyappa. These things will remind people of their mistakes and they will take it without any issue.
If successful in one place, many such initiatives will come up in other religions places as well.
