Cleaning campaign at Mysore
Amala Bharatam was formally inaugurated in Mysore on Sunday the 24th April 2011 at “Chikkagadiyara circle” by Sri. S A Ramadas, Honorable Minister for Medical Education & District in-charge Minister. Sri. S A Ramadas literally showed the way by cleaning the area with broomsticks which was followed by Mayor of Mysore City Corporation, Mysore Sri. Sandesh Swamy. Mayor administered the oath of “Keeping the city clean” to students & public who participated in the campaign.
About 300 students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysore campus devotees & general public swept the city roads and collected garbage in the city centre.
Some of the shop keepers who were watching our students cleaning the garbage, felt inspired and came forward in cleaning in front of their shops. Some even took our students and volunteers inside their shops and offered cool drinks.
One of the shop keeper who had his son at his shop, told his son to watch and learn how to keep the surroundings clean. In fact he even told his son in a rather strict way that if he starts putting the garbage in front on road, he warned of strict consequences.
All were happy that the main purpose of bringing the awareness amongst the people about cleanliness we could achieve to some extent by ABC-campaign at Mysore.
